The fair is held from late August to early September.

The Monte Vista Crane Festival has been around for a few decades, honoring the migration of cranes. It is a three-day event held in mid-March, kicking off with a Sandhill Crane Sunrise Tour, when visitors can observe countless cranes in the fields of farms. There is a corresponding sunset tour and both recommend donations. Later that night, a free presentation is given by Weldon Lee detailing bird species from around the globe. The festival also features a pancake breakfast, a dinner, various workshops and a crafts fair.

Chautauqua Park is both scenic and cultural, hosting numerous events throughout the year from music and dance to theatre. It features a dining hall, providing a detailed menu divided into Sunday Brunch, Breakfast, Lunch, Late Lunch, Dinner, Kid's and Beverages. The dining hall uses organic and all natural ingredients, which are usually local and is dedicated to sustainability and preservation. Chautauqua Park features other venues and is available for weddings, parties and corporate events.

The Colorado State Capitol Building has free admission and guided tours. Visitors can learn the history that took place here and take advantage of unrivaled views of the Rocky Mountains, Denver and the general vicinity from the building's observation deck. It contains sculptures comprised of onyx, which honor the city's prominent historical heads. The first floor features murals that aid in putting together the local history. The building is a sight in itself, with intricate architecture.
